My hope has been achieved -- Fire Born has reached 50 copies sold in just 2 weeks! Many heartfelt thanks to every buyer who has a copy on their Kindle and every friend who has helped me promote this book!
I have sold 34 copies of Fire Born in the first week of release, of which I am very proud. Three reviews were posted, two of which were quite flattering (thanks ladies!) and one that was...not so much. Here's what mitzi926 had to say. Personally, I think she was unfairly harsh. Not because I wrote the book in question, but because she took it too seriously. Even she acknowledged it was a work of fiction, so keeping that in mind, she ought to have expected a little bit of unrealism (though I certainly tried my best to make it as realistic as possible). Yes, the main characters did have sex the same day they met, but that does happen in real life, as well as romance novels -- it's an exceptionally common theme in romance novels, in fact. But they do not fall in love within two days. Chris and Martie admit right away that they are very attracted to one another, but it takes them more than two days to realize they're in love. Perhaps if she had actually read the entire book (instead of rolling her eyes), she might have realized all of this, and in turn perhaps enjoyed it more. Ah well. Every author gets bad reviews once in a while. It was only a matter of time before I joined the club. Most of the people that I know who have read the book have thoroughly enjoyed it, but I know not everybody's going to. I'm sorry this person didn't.
You've waited patiently for two days, now here it is!! I present you the cover of Fire Born -- made by yours truly in Adobe Photoshop CS3. I invite you to join me and my friends as I host my first Facebook event, the cover reveal for Fire Born! The date for this very special occasion is Friday, January 11. If you can't stop by the event page on Facebook, then be sure to stop by here, as I'll reveal the cover on the Diary the same day! Fire Born Cover Reveal Facebook Page
I have been sadly lax on posting -- sorry 'bout that. I'm sure you can understand that with the holidays and everything, it's been pretty busy in my life. One of my furbabies, Mojo, also had a birthday a couple of days ago. Yes, we celebrated the birthday of a dog. I strongly support the belief that pets should be treated as members of the family, and my four dogs are the only children I have right now. Anyhoo... I hope you will all be pleased to learn that Fire Born is thisclose to being ready for publication! The book is complete, has been reviewed by an alpha reader, and is merely waiting for a cover. Actually, the cover is 90% finished, but minor complications with finances (getting the money to the right place) ensued when I went to purchase the photo of the cover model I wanted. All is well, though -- I should have the picture Tuesday evening at the earliest, but surely by the end of the week. One more read-through and it will be ready by the release date, which is January 15th. Speaking of release dates, I've been doing some much-needed writing for From the Shadows, which I would also like to release on the 15th. I know it's just nine days away, and that I'm really pushing it to get the book finished on time to release that day, but January 15th is pretty significant to me, and I know that if I bust my chops on this, I can finish in time. What makes January 15th so special? Guess you'll have to stay tuned to find out! ;)
